About Me

I am an individual stuck in a rut who loves to re-name her 21 cats in the cabin she lives in at the edge of that god-awful forest on the other side of China that no one can reach.

Bothersome.

A lot of things have been bothering me, and most of it is semi-fashion related (YAY!). But, I hope I don't sound like I'm PMS-ing because gosh, wouldn't that be embarassing?

a) NO ARCTIC MONKEYS ALBUM IN BOOKSTORE! I like to buy the CDs in the bookstore, so I have it on hand. If I know I'll never find it, I'll buy it online. But, I was very upset on August 25th to find no "Humbug." Boo-hoo.

b) One of the things I hate about bloggers, fashion bloggers specifically, now-a-days is the desperation to be famous. And I've seen this a lot. They'll start dressing to what they think is "avant-garde" (note the quotation marks). I know a lot of bloggers have recieved from fame (case in point, Tavi and Jane), but nobody can be like them. If we all were famous, that'd be, well, dumb. I hope I don't sound as though I want an equal class society or something! It's just that you should be yourself and not cater to others in order to become famous.

c) Last year, this girl, who says like more than necessary, in my school found Paramore to be her ultimate love and decided to add bird's nests to the sides of her hair to look "scene." Figure A describes it.

Figure A: Where the Blackbird lived before she took her broken wings and learned to fly

Now, it seems as though she found Cory Kennedy and tries to be like her.

Figure B: The shirt is a men's medium, obviously, can't you seriously tell?

I don't mean to poke fun. But really, don't follow what other people do. Cory Kennedy is not a fashion pariah. Hayley Williams most certainly doesn't one either. Follow the beat of your own drum. Be a Ringo Starr. Or Phil Collins. Or something...

I really hope I don't sound like a bitch. I'm not. I have a lot on my mind, and why not write it on here?

I also hope you enjoy my obviously protegic paint skills.

And thanks for all the comments! Sorry it took a while to get another post in!

And I hate some garlic.

Diane Kruger on "It's On with Alexa Chung"

a) Isn't Diane Kruger just too cool? (even though she is a Twilight fan)
b) Doesn't Alexa Chung have the most AMAZING guests? I mean, Trinny and Susannah were on the other day! I love them! (And if you don't know who they are, here's the Wikipedia link: x)

But, the best guest of all...

Mr. Jim Sturgess, husband to Ginny

Ah, he's just too beautiful, isn't he? (And if you ask who he is, I'll be upset.)

(Yes, I do know he's dating Mickey O'Brien...don't remind me...)

And thanks for the nine comments while I was gone. If you were wondering where my sister attends...I won't tell (oh man!). But, let me just say this. She goes to one of the best public colleges in the US (a "Public Ivy"), and it's located in Virginia. Pick one of the two. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it.

Also, school starts on Thursday (jeez, summer ended quickly!), so I'll be updating way less. Sorry guys!

And...guess what? I'VE BEEN GIVEN AN AWARD!

*cue "Eye of the Tiger" theme*

Yeah, the fantastic Lydia of Fine Grime has given me a Circle of Friends award! Thanks Lydia! You're pretty awesome too!

But, who shall I pass it on to? I would give it to everyone (seriously, I would!), but i'll pick Brit of Nyc Art Style. She's been a blogging friend of mine since my Xanga days!

Hope you guys enjoy your last week or two of summer!

How could I leave this behind?

American Apparel Disco Pants

Spinal Tap - Big Bottom

I hate to say it, but whenever I see AA's Disco Pants, I think of Big Bottom from the movie, This Is Spinal Tap. I know everyone would die for these trousers if necessary, but you must admit-- the pants are exact replicas of Derek Small's pants there (far left with two-handle guitar). Take the reference however you want...I don't think it's either a compliment or a insult.

But, like Almost Famous, this is a great rock/music movie. It's just so funny and hillarious.

Anyways, thanks for the TEN comments. So happy!!

Also, I'm leaving to drop my sister off at college. I'm leaving Wednesday and not returning until either Saturday or Sunday. I don't know if i'll update in the meantime, but if not, this is goodbye for now!

Oh, and hope you enjoy the new playlist. I made it without realizing it's all 60s. If you hate the 60s, get out of here.

A little rhythm on the side, just for good measure...

La Javanaise - Serge Gainsbourg
A Shot of Rhythm and Blues - The Beatles
I'm Confused - Handsome Furs
Pretty Visitors - Arctic Monkeys
When They Fight, They Fight - The Generationals
Desolation Row - Bob Dylan
Shadows - Au Revoir Simone
This Time Tomorrow - The Kinks
Salieri's Deposit - Lightspeed Champion

Finally saw Almost Famous maybe a week or two ago, and it was amazing. Absolutely brilliant.

Also, thanks for all the comments! I pretty much got all of them within 2 days! Thanks so much!

The Boy

Now, here are the inspirations:

Here's the result:

Elizabeth and James blazer, Urban Outfitters glasses, Steven Alan shirt, Topshop hat, Stella McCartney trousers, Topshop shoes

So, lately, I've been watching a LOT of Harold Lloyd films (*points to man above*). And yes, they're mostly silent. But, he was a famous silent actor in the '20s and starred in a lot of "talkies" after its creation. But, really, the films are fantastic. I just love them. My favorite is The Freshman, which is so adorable. And I love Joblyna Ralston, who starred with Lloyd in many of his films, including The Freshman.

But, Harold Lloyd basically was the inspiration for this. I also thought of someone reading a newspaper, like the picture above. I would have added some issue of NYT or something, but nah, it's good just the way it is.

Also, if you guys want to watch a clip of The Freshman, click here: x.

I'd like to thank you all for the wonderful comments! 8...wow! I'm getting a lot of readers, haha. Thank you so much...

Edit: I found this fantastic blog post about a girl who used to be pen pals with John Hughes. This really opened my eyes about how much greater he actually was and made me miss him more than I really do. RIP John Hughes. Click here to read.

The Cool Kids

Bob Dylan & George Harrison; Neal Cassady & Jack Kerouac; the Lisbon Sisters; Rick Owens; Iggy Pop; and Julian Casablancas

You know how some people ask, "If you could invite so-many people to dinner, who would it be?"

This would be my answer.

So, this is really steering away from "fashion blog" per say. But, I've lost total inspiration, for now. Stick around and there will be a...turn around, I guess.
