New Year's Resolution

Firstly, I've come back! Yay! I've been so busy, and now, since it's winter break, I feel so free it's unbelievable.

Well, with a new year (and new decade) comes new inspiration. I think recently, I've become really dark or whatnot. Now, I'm drifting towards androgynist-- as in oxford shirts, cut-offs, etc. I also like the idea of adding a classic touch: red lipstick, feminine jewelry. Here's my inspiration for the next year.

I'll be posting an end of the year playlist by the end of this week. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday!

Well, I sincerely apologize. I feel so ashamed. School work's taking up so much time! I promise that after I turn in my Internal Assessment for IB History (which is in about 2-3 weeks), I'll revamp and be an active blogger again.

And I haven't been on Twitter in ages too (over 2 months to be exact!). Gah, what has happened to me?

I'll comment back ASAP.

I don't think my style can be more properly epitomized in 3 photos. I definitely need to invest in more oxford shirts and when spring arrives, more denim shorts. The black tights ordeal is already covered. Oh, and I need the red lipstick too!

So, yeah, who has kind of disappeared off the face of the earth? Me! I've been overwhelmingly busy with school and Fall Play (it opens in 5 days!). And my grades are straight B's...with one roundable A (in my hardest class, what the heck). So, another unexpected hiatus might soon come.

But, I'll comment everyone back, and thanks for still reading. Since yesterday, which was the first time I checked my site in forever, I have had 200 views. Really? Wow!

Please keep checking back. I am very much alive. Just deprived of sleep.

If only, if only...

We had an early dismissal from school today. And no rehearsal...and no tests (well, physics--- I'm in regular physics, who cares?). I'M FREE FOR ONCE!

I'm currently watching Flight of the Conchords. "Sally," if any of you care.

But, anyways, Paris Fashion Week is just around the corner, and I was thinking what I would wear if I was invited. Or just to any fashion week in general. But, I thought that you have to balance comfort and chic. You're running around all day! So, here's my idea:

Jil Sander shirt, Giles & Brother necklace, Philip Crangi cuff, Lanvin bag, Givenchy boots, J Brand jeans

First of all, I always feel comfortable in a pair of jeans and an over-sized oxford shirt. If I have the choice to wear that pairing everyday, I would without doubt.

And who could pass up the opportunity to wear Givenchy boots?

P.S. I Love You...a great song (click here) and a horrendous movie.

But, yet, it's also my declaration of love to Proenza Schouler's Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for their AMAZING S/S 10 collection. Aren't I just that brilliantly, IQ 150-clever for that name?

But, WAIT! It has color? Tye-dyes? Multiple colors way out of the spectrum? And Gin, you like this? I mean, let's put this bluntly and in all caps: IT'S THE TOTAL OPPOSITE OF ME.

But, just look at how interesting this collection is. It's rebellious and cool at the same time. Plus, the sunglasses are out of this world. Don't we all need a break from Ray-Bans at some point?

The collection has a mix of tribal accessories (how L.V. S/S 09), a large cube of acid, and a whole lot of relaxation. I made fun of my Civics teacher for wearing his jacket around his waist intentionally on a field trip once (yes, I can be cruel with lack of sleep). But, here, it's just so...cool.

Even though the white dresses borderlined straight-jackets (I'm not scaring off the human race by posting them), I give a standing ovation for P.S. I have never been so wowed by their collection. Just amazing.

By the way, changing the playlist. I don't think you can listen to "Run Run Run" so many times without having to run away.

It's Fashion Week. Therefore, I must speak Rachel Zoe-ese, obviously. Duh. Of course.

Really enjoyed Erin Wasson's collection. Except I live in New England. Cold. Most of the time. And my body's not that much of a wonderland. I feel so uncomfortable showing off my abs like Freja in the first look. But, otherwise, super fantastic. (And Irina's pixie cut? Kind of sorta AWESOME.)

When I first saw this, I almost screamed. I LOVE! J'DORE! ME ENCANTA! (Sorry Spanish speakers, can't do the upside down exclamation point.) I'm wearing this to prom, enough said. Or if I suddenly get invited to some chic event in place of an awful school dance, then yes. (I hate dances.)

On my old blog, City Chic Please, I wrote a love letter to David Neville and Marcus Wainwright. Yet again, they have read my mind. They design so much to my aesthetic, it's creepy. I would write another love letter, but that would be really overdoing it. (Oh, if you want to read my former love letter, click here.)

Please bound and gag the tacky beach setting. But, the clothes were really awesome. Not as great as the S/S 09 lookbook with Kirsten Dunst. I still liked this collection though.

Will. Wear. This. Outfit. AH! This wasn't my favorite A.Wang collection (I'm a big fan of his early collections), but I loved the whole twisted Americana feel to this one. And I will put my hair in a braid sometime soon. Kind hard---my hair's curly. But, the battle will be on!

I've been so busy lately from school/fall play (director! whoohoo!)/family stuff that I'm pretty much collapsing from stress...hence me being a week late on this blog post. Just as a warning, it might take as long for the next post too.

And Brit, if you're reading this, I will forever miss NYC Art Style. RIP

A lot of things have been bothering me, and most of it is semi-fashion related (YAY!). But, I hope I don't sound like I'm PMS-ing because gosh, wouldn't that be embarassing?

a) NO ARCTIC MONKEYS ALBUM IN BOOKSTORE! I like to buy the CDs in the bookstore, so I have it on hand. If I know I'll never find it, I'll buy it online. But, I was very upset on August 25th to find no "Humbug." Boo-hoo.

b) One of the things I hate about bloggers, fashion bloggers specifically, now-a-days is the desperation to be famous. And I've seen this a lot. They'll start dressing to what they think is "avant-garde" (note the quotation marks). I know a lot of bloggers have recieved from fame (case in point, Tavi and Jane), but nobody can be like them. If we all were famous, that'd be, well, dumb. I hope I don't sound as though I want an equal class society or something! It's just that you should be yourself and not cater to others in order to become famous.

c) Last year, this girl, who says like more than necessary, in my school found Paramore to be her ultimate love and decided to add bird's nests to the sides of her hair to look "scene." Figure A describes it.

Now, it seems as though she found Cory Kennedy and tries to be like her.

I don't mean to poke fun. But really, don't follow what other people do. Cory Kennedy is not a fashion pariah. Hayley Williams most certainly doesn't one either. Follow the beat of your own drum. Be a Ringo Starr. Or Phil Collins. Or something...

I really hope I don't sound like a bitch. I'm not. I have a lot on my mind, and why not write it on here?

American Apparel Disco Pants

Spinal Tap - Big Bottom
I hate to say it, but whenever I see AA's Disco Pants, I think of Big Bottom from the movie, This Is Spinal Tap. I know everyone would die for these trousers if necessary, but you must admit-- the pants are exact replicas of Derek Small's pants there (far left with two-handle guitar). Take the reference however you want...I don't think it's either a compliment or a insult.

But, like Almost Famous, this is a great rock/music movie. It's just so funny and hillarious.

Also, I'm leaving to drop my sister off at college. I'm leaving Wednesday and not returning until either Saturday or Sunday. I don't know if i'll update in the meantime, but if not, this is goodbye for now!

So, lately, I've been watching a LOT of Harold Lloyd films (*points to man above*). And yes, they're mostly silent. But, he was a famous silent actor in the '20s and starred in a lot of "talkies" after its creation. But, really, the films are fantastic. I just love them. My favorite is The Freshman, which is so adorable. And I love Joblyna Ralston, who starred with Lloyd in many of his films, including The Freshman.

But, Harold Lloyd basically was the inspiration for this. I also thought of someone reading a newspaper, like the picture above. I would have added some issue of NYT or something, but nah, it's good just the way it is.

Besides getting into a good college for art history and several other dreams, one of my goals (though not a priority) in life is to at least go to Glastonbury once. It's the only time I'd ever accept walking around in mud...with a fantastic pair of Hunter boots on, of course (and trying to look nearly as cool as Lily Donaldson). And Paul McCartney better still be playing when I get there.

And guess who this is below at Glasto 2007? Yes, that is the extremely adorable (*sigh*) Alex Turner. Can't you obviously tell? Hahaha...

And speaking of which, the new A.M. album is coming out August 15th in the US. Too excited!

Gigi is one of my favorite movies (dare to say my favorite musical), and I had the pleasure to see it again today on TCM. The setting in 1890s Paris is so magical, and it has definitely been a fashion inspiration to me lately. I mean, look at these Cecil Beaton costumes! They're fantastic!

Oh, and new playlist! Yay! I needed to include more Smiths in my blog, if you know what I mean.

I've been watching It's On with Alexa Chung so much lately. Maybe it's because I have nothing to do, haha. I hate MTV normally, but at least it's a somewhat decent replacement for TRL. But, the Phoenix performance today? I died. Thomas Mars is so adorable. And considering every other musical guest, well, sucked, Phoenix was so refreshing and amazing.

I'm done with finals, did my SAT World History this morning, and only have 6 more days until the last day of school. It's basically a pointless 4 days of school then a move-up day.

But, basically, I'm free!!

Oh, how do you like the new layout? I might change the posts back to 3 a page again. And if you don't know those two guys in the picture, that's Bob Dylan and George Harrison. I actually really like Taylor Momsen. Being her age, there's not anyone like her that I know. Just mainstream drones who love that stupid new 3OH!3 song (please take it off the radio).

But, she sings! I guess the new demo is okay. It's definitely not horrible. No stupid 3OH!3. Thank the Lord...let's just hope Leighton's as good as her.

Black pants, how I need you so. I'm such a monochromatic freak (Grey and I are, lyk, omg, BESTIES!), and I've been begging for a chic, well-fitting pair that doesn't look like I'm about to perform in an orchestra.

LIFE MAKER OF THE MONTH:

About 40 Thai exchange students arrived at my school 2 weeks ago, and I always become involved in the program. This year, there is one girl who I met who is extremely stylish. She even has a Miu Miu purse! My jealousy (well, actually, I only like Miu Miu bags, but that's for another post)! Anyways, here's the one thing she said that totally made me die...in a Rachel Zoe way:

Friend: "So, do you know who Alexander Wang is?"

Shocked, I immediately reply how much I love him. Yes, I have finally met someone in the flesh who loves Alexander Wang! This is how sad my town/life is.

Last christmas-not this past one, the one before that-I recieved a pretty hefty gift card for Saks. Yay! Here's the story though. I found these AMAZING oxford shoes from Marc by Marc Jacobs ON SALE! I was so excited that I bought them. When they arrived, they didn't fit. My fashion soul went into a coma.

Now, I have found nothing to use on my gift card! The shame! I need help finding something substantial. If you could go on to the Saks website (http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/) and find something for me that would be good for me in the long run, I'll be so happy and eternally grateful! And no YSL bags: my gift card isn't that large!

A Monthly Review- March 2009

Anyways, I just came back from a trip to Upstate NY to visit family. It was an okay trip besides the horrible weather.

OPI on Collins Ave. Nail Color

So, I got a manicure for the first time for my birthday with 3 of my closest friends. I had trouble deciding upon a color, and I picked this really bright one hesitantly. It is great! I love it so much. Of course, it's chipped by this point, but it really stands out against my grey wardrobe. I really recommend it.

I must say I was exstatic to discover that one of my favorite author's great-grandchildren, Dree Hemingway, has entered the fashion industry as a model. Not only is she beautiful and has a great sense of style, she exutes such a cool factor. I'm so excited to see what's ahead of her.

I actually got no gifts today except for some fudge from my friend. My mum said she wants me to go with her tomorrow to get my gift...wonder what it is.

Fashion Week F/W 09

So, being that I just came home from a horrific cast party (I had to see Shopaholic again at 3 in the morning. It was a horrendous movie, yet again. No one listened to me..."You're always such a harsh critic, Gin. Maybe it's good?" Everyone fell asleep.), I never knew that something like a "party" could be so tortuous. Journey blaring from the speakers? Having a horrible selection of movies?

Oh, by the way, we rented out a movie theatre for our musical cast party. It was so dumb.

ANYWAYS, the only reason I find myself alive right now at 6:51 in the morning and not being dead for about a week is fashion week. Or all fashion weeks. My favorites? I had some...

Alexander Wang really redeemed himself from his last collection, which I personally didn't like much. Now, he knows his own skin concernning design, and he'll probably stay comfortable in that skin for a long time to come. And hey, that's a benefit to all of us, right?

I was suprised by Burberry this season. It was so simplistic. Okay, it was borderline boring, but I, not wearing a color brighter than white, liked it a lot. I would wear a ton of pieces from the collection and can't wait to grab inspiration for my wardrobe from it.

I also really enjoyed Rodarte. The boots, I must admit, aren't really practical but beautiful none the less. And the clothes! The amazing clothes! Such a great aesthetic.

What are your opinions on Fashion Week[s]?

Oh, and I want to say I will be updating more often and hopefully outfit posts soon. I'll have to see what happens concerning school (aka Chemistry), but I'll finally be back.

(And if none of this makes sense, it's about 7 in the morning.)

Alexander Wang: Uber love?

So, I was actually really disappointed by Alexander Wang's S/S 09 collection. I dunno, I never wear color. It wasn't me. And plus, I'm not sporty. I died last summer during summer gym (summer gym is when you have to take gym over the summer, so you could have gotten a lunch the next school year, which I still didn't due to bad scheduling on my councilor's part...).

But, I saw this all black collection with some white, which just epitomizes me in general, and I just died inside. I went bananas (yes, Rachel Zoe-ism indeed). I can't decide what I like more: the amazing flat boots, the fantastic geometric cuff, the Margiela-esque white oxford shirts, or just...everything! It was so good. Hence the crappy, paint valentine above.

On another note, I finally got the Metro Chic nail polish from Sephora after a couple months of it being sold out. It's an amazing color, and I can't wait to paint my nails tonight.

And since none of you got where my writing thing was loosely based upon, here's the giveaway.

[Suddenly, a ghost-like CARINE ROITFELD appears above her head. She is wearing a Margiela coat, a simple black knee-length dress, and Christopher Kane ankle boots. Surprisingly, her features have many similarities to Ginny’s friend Sara, not Carine Roitfeld.]

CARINE ROITFELD: Bonjour Ginny! Bonjour…?
GINNY [waking up]: Hello?
CARINE: Bonjour, I am Carine Roitfeld.
GINNY [rubbing eyes]: You’re Carine Roitfeld? You kind of look like my friend. That would have been the most–
CARINE: So, Ginny, I come to your call about your fashion problems.
GINNY: Huh?
CARINE: Your clothes, your shoes...
GINNY: I know that, but I don’t know your phone number.
CARINE [head in hands]: Of course you don’t know my phone number. Julia probably doesn’t know my phone number. I don’t even know my phone number!
GINNY: I am very sorry to hear that.
CARINE: That’s okay. So, as I was saying, your wardrobe? Is it dysfunctional?
GINNY [sitting up in bed]: Yes. I mean, look at my closet! [points to closet] It consists of just shades of grey and some occasional blue. [CARINE floats over to closet to have a look] And my jewelry! Sure, that necklace is Marc by Marc Jacobs, but the guitar shape is really getting on my nerves. [CARINE floats over to her guitar watch necklace and attempts to pick it up, but her hand cannot grasp it]
CARINE: Well, I must agree with the necklace. Though remotely cool, it is in no way classy.
GINNY: Agreed. But, I’m stuck. I need a better wardrobe. I have no real inspiration. I’m in this shell, and I can’t really get out. I’m very enclosed.
CARINE: Basically, you’re scared.
GINNY: Not really, just my personality is unwilling to break free for some reason. [CARINE floats over and sits on the bed]
CARINE: You’re being very serious, yes?
GINNY: I guess. [large audible sigh] I don’t know.
CARINE: Well, it helps to know Karl Lagerfeld.
[awkward silence]
GINNY: Well, what if you don’t know him?
CARINE: Oh yes! I know! Uh, um [becomes frazzled and looks around frantically] here. [CARINE suddenly takes her studded Givenchy blazer out of her coat pocket and hands it to GINNY]
GINNY: How did you take that out of your pocket?
CARINE: Like I said, I know Karl.
GINNY: But, Carine, I can’t accept this. It’s too beautiful.
CARINE: Um, that’s how I bought it. Its love has been replaced by the YSL cage heels. Take it or else. [CARINE gives GINNY a grimacing glare]
GINNY: Okay! Okay, I’ll take it. Just let me hold it for a second. [CARINE rolls her eyes and gives GINNY the blazer to hug. GINNY hugs for a couple seconds and gives it back to CARINE]
CARINE: I TOLD YOU TO–
GINNY: Could you put it in my closet? I’m too lazy to do so myself. [CARINE glares at GINNY once more and moves the blazer to the closet]
CARINE [looking at clock]: Gosh, it is late, isn’t it? I have lunch scheduled with Emmanuelle tomorrow. I should go.
GINNY: Merci, Carine.
CARINE: De rien, Ginny. Remember to wear your blazer tomorrow. It has to be with black skinny pants.
GINNY: I’ll be sure to do that.
CARINE: I’ll be off. Au revoir!
GINNY: Au revoir!
[GINNY waves slightly as CARINE fades away. She then puts her head back on her pillow and goes to sleep. A second later, GINNY’s alarm clock rings, and it’s 6:15 AM. She looks towards her closet to see if CARINE’s beloved blazer is still there. The hanger is empty.]

Sorry for the delay in posts. I hate finals. But, I guess the studying paid off. I got 100% on my math final. But I'm a history person...weird.

But, anyways, I fell in love with Michelle Obama's dress. It was FANTASTIC. I knew she'd probably pick a dress from Jason Wu or Thakoon, so I was happy with the choice. I died when I saw it. She was stunning!

What did you think?

Plus, while in school pre-inauguration (I was in World History. We were obviously watching something related to the inauguration), I said something along the lines of, "Oh my gosh! Her outift is so pretty!" That phrase just prompted one of my friends to freakishly blow up at me about materialism and how she hates fashion people. It made me think, "Is fashion just materialism?" I never looked at fashion from that point of view. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this? I'm slightly freaked about my encounter, if you ask me.

I had no school today. Yeah, the -3 temperatures might have had something to do with it.

But, that means all my finals are pushed back a day. Now, I have to think about all 5 of my subjects, not 3! I'm upset, but I needed an extra day to study.

Anyways, I was tagged by the lovely Nat to do some surveys. She had a ton, so I might as well procrastinate and do them all.

5 things about myself:

1. I am not just a fashion freak. I love art too! I'm not really talented at art, but I can shade with pencil better than most, so I guess that's alright. But, I hope to major in art history (and journalism/liberal arts) someday because of this interest.
2. I participate in a lot of school stuff. I'm in nearly every theater-related club, I'm features editor on the school newspaper, I'm possible student director/asst. director of all school productions, and I help out a ton with my school's exchange program with Thailand. Yes, I have a LOT on my shoulders.
3. I read a ton of books about 60s era things and people. I recently requested The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test from the library, and my friend, who works at my local lib., called me while shelving books to ask me if I checked out 20+ books on hippies. The funny part was that I didn't.
4. My favorite pair of shoes are my boots. They're gorgeous, but I hate to wear them through the snow because ironically, I'm afraid they'll be ruined.
5. My favorite perfume is Coco Mademoiselle.

Six Things That Make Me Happy

1. My mum, my sister, my baba (essentially my grandma, but I'm Russian) and my friends. It's pretty much self-explanatory that I love them dearly.
2. My music. To name off the top five: Arctic Monkeys, Last Shadow Puppets, Strokes, Beatles, Velvet Underground. But lately, I've gotten into a lot of Lissy Trullie and Late of the Pier.
3. Jim Sturgess. He's too gorgeous. I go on fan sites to see if they're any new photos of him. He's actually quite fashionable too, so I love to see what he's wearing.
4. CHOCOLATE. You can say I'm a chocoholic.
5. The History Boys. It's easily my favorite movie of all time, and I love to watch it. And plus, Sam Barnett is adorable.
6. And obviously, fashion. Or style. Street style. I guess that's 3 items within one; whoops!

Ten Honest Things About Myself

1. I think about college/the future way too much. I am hoping either NYU or some art school with art history. Considering the way I hate school now, I literally want to skip a year and graduate next year.
2. I hate Miu Miu. DESPISE! I cannot stand Prada either. Something about Miuccia Prada makes me cringe.
3. One of my pet peeves about bloggers is that their fashion is not really them. It's just a rebellion against the world around them. Every post is along the lines of, "Oh, I just dress like this because I hate the kids at school, and they make fun of what I wear. I just smile whenever they do and keep wearing it." It just makes me think, why do you have a fashion blog if all you care about is being different? And if you haven't noticed this, it's probably because you're one of them.
4. My favorite accessory is my class ring. It doesn't look similar to a class ring at all (we had several choices of what we wanted), and I wear it every time I go out. It's really pretty, and I love it.
5. I have a huge fear of nails, especially when you rip up carpet and the nails are standing straight up. Weird, but I cringe whenever I think about it.
6. I have a guilty pleasure of Queer Eye. I watch it whenever it's on.
7. I am such a picky eater. It's rediculous. I remember at the beginning of the year when my friend asked what food I liked, I could listed them all, and it was a very short list.
8. I drink way too much water and orange juice.
9. I used to be a severe tomboy who never cared about fashion. That was a while ago.
10. My skin is my baby. I would never do anything to hurt it at all. I wear SPF all the time and have vowed not to smoke in order to retain my skin's healthiness.

Finals & Other Stuff

So, my first final's on Friday, and gosh, I'm behind on studying (I basically spent the weekend studying for two tests today). I might be off here for a little bit, so please don't think I've gone to another dimension or something.

But, nothing but musical has gone on in my life. I saw the Yale Wiffenpoofs (their male a capella group) at my sister's school on Saturday, and they were awesome. Being a huge Gilmore Girls fan, I was psyched to see them. I even got to talk to them afterwards! I wish I had pictures, but it would be slightly creepy to put a group of guys dressed in tuxs on my blog. But, I googled their official site, if you're really that interested...

And thanks for all your feedback on the shoe post! I really don't think the comment box for the Jarvis Cocker one worked (say what!?), so boo Blogger.

Also, the awesome Brit published a post on her Xanga blog inspired by my shoe thing! Please check it out.

Cool People: Jarvis Cocker

I am a HUGE fan of Jarvis Cocker. When I say I've been pining his solo album for ages, I mean it. "Fat Children" has been a favorite of mine for over a year, and "Common People" (by Pulp...which he was lead singer of) ranks in my personal top 10 favorite songs. He is, personally, quite witty, and he's such a great character off of the performing stage.

And plus, he and Camille Bidault-Waddington are just so awesome together. They're even on my English binder.

Discotheque Confusion did a post on them and their opinions on fashion just recently. I thought it was very interesting, if you want to read it here.

2009 must be different for me, even though my New Year's sucked. I think it's a time for change for me, a great opportunity. I donated half my wardrobe the other day. So, duh, this girl needs inspiration. (Oh, and speaking of the title, I hate Chicago.)

(PS: Did anyone watch The City? I hate MTV, but I watched it for a review for my school newspaper. But, wasn't Jay adorable? He reminded me of a slummy Jim Sturgess...who is mine, by the way. And Olivia Palermo using The City to climb her way to the top? I might have to tune in next week.)

a) I ditched hoodies. Whoo-hoo!
b) I gained a ton of great friends.
c) I've moved my blog from Xanga to Blogspot.
d) I'm just busier.

Really, I like the change, but I'm not gonna go on about that.

Gin's Style of '08:
a) Alexander Wang I've become OBSESSED with Alexander Wang. I know I sound similar to every fashionable girl out there, but there's a reason why he is so popular. I think I might have to find an AW shirt alternative at American Apparel.
b) Skinnies I don't care what trends might say; I still love my skinny jeans. I love H&M and Cheap Monday brands the best. I'm actually wearing Cheap Mondays right as we speak.
c) Studs I've always had a fetish for studs, but now, I can wear them without being ridiculed. I wish I could afford find better studded cuffs (I hate the Hot Topic ones), but I am learning to DIY them.
d) PS1 Purse My need for a PS1 purse has semi-replaced my dream for a Birkin. I mean, a PS1 is no Birkin, but it's pretty close. I love how casual it is.
e) Christian Louboutin Astraqueens My number one most needed/loved shoe right now. All my friends know this is the shoe I want. Could someone just buy them for me, please?
f) Gloves I love gloves! They work with anyone's style! I especially love the ones pictured from Rodarte. They're over $500, but I know I can create them for just $15 or along those lines.
g) Blazers I've loved blazers since the 7th grade, but I haven't found a decent one for me. Now that they're really popular, I can get them anywhere. I'm so happy.

I recieved my Teen Vogue in the mail today. (I silently "woot"-ed. I had just come back from Marley and Me. That's for another post...)

But, I open up to the music section and see this amazing band I've been gushing over for weeks upon weeks. (And yes, I'm this selfish...)

I KNEW LATE OF THE PIER BEFORE YOU! I've been spreading the joys of the "Focker" music video for weeks, and I've had "Space and the Woods" on my Myspace for ages.

So, don't think I'm a poser when they eventually (and hopefully not) become popular here in the US.

Hair obsession

Well, I got an early Christmas present from mi padre.

I think teachers are so uncaring of their dear students. They won't even let them get off without piling them all with crap before 2008 ends.

Yes, I am writing my paper at the last minute of forensic sculpting. So what?

But, I probably won't be able to post properly until maybe even Christmas sadly. I have tests all next week...yes, it may be a two day week, but still, look to the first sentance. AND musical auditions are on Saturday, and I may have to be there at 7! IN THE MORNING. Call this world pathetic.

My Love/Hate Relationship with Dazed & Confused

So, I have a Myspace. Whoopie. No biggie. (No, you'll not be my friend. Thank you.) But, that's not random; this point will lead to something.

But, maybe 3 months ago, I saw a bulletin from the magazine Dazed & Confused about how they wanted teens for their Teenage Issue. I died, nearly contacted them...and that was before I realized the note "...who live in Great Britain." I died but in a different way this time.

So, now, the issue has come out. I feel awfully that I could not play a part in it. WAH. BUT, the pictures Hedi Slimane are GORGEOUS.

I am in love with Lissy Trullie. No, not in a lesbian way, but I love the music. Both Lissy Trullie and Harley Viera-Newton (yes, she's the bassist!) are so fashion forward.

"Boy Boy" is my favorite, but you can truly appreciate her and the band live.

So, Chanel and Burberry Prorsum were put up on Style.com. I died.

Considering I'm home sick for the second time this week, this pretty much makes my day.

I've always been a Burberry Prorsum fan. Christopher Bailey always delivers. He showed his usual, and I was happy.

But, Chanel pretty much killed me. Being a little Russian girl, I freaked out. I would have worn anything. The jewelry was the best thing ever. I would have even worn the head pieces.

And hello! Karl even made a short film! AH! (Go to chanel.com to watch)

New Favorite Selby

So, I've been posting just of stuff I love/have fallen in love with (yes, Jim Sturgess will be on here sometime soon), and you must be getting sick of it by this point. But I have no camera. Boo me.

It's 3 weeks and 1 day until Christmas. Be patient!

Art History Much?

This really is a pointless post. I have nothing to write concerning fashion. Nothing's going on in my world; I'm sick, I'm studying, and I'm writing several pointless papers, including one on forensic sculpting. It's pretty gross once you look at it in depth.

But, I thought I would like to point out the new Art History game on freerice.com. If you didn't know, I love Art History, and I hope to study it in college. But, point saying is that your knowledge of art (and even fashion references) improves because of this game. I now know the difference between a painting by Camille Pissarro and Berthe Morisot, two painters which I got confused with often.

Remember when Klimt was suddenly all the rage in the fashion world about a year ago? Pretty much all his paintings are on there.

And it's Thanksgiving for God's sake. Give to those who don't really have food right now. And yes, feel guilty that you're pigging away on stuffing leftovers.

(Just kidding.)

So, I have nothing to say. Hopefully, I fulfill your somewhat need for a post.

American Apparel Intervention

[5 people are sitting in a half circle with one open seat in the middle. Starting from stage left going to their right: GINNY, a normal girl with wavy brown hair, blue eyes, and pale skin; JORGE, a Hispanic scene kid overstraightened flat jet black hair; DENISE, a shy girl with short blonde bob cut and a bow headband; PASCALE, a red head with a beard, who is wearing WesC headphones and is jamming out to “Holland, 1945” loudly, and, KATE, a 14-year-old girl who tries too hard to channel Cory Kennedy.]

Enter JOAN, intervention head. She looks as though she was a former mannequin for Talbots. She walks out with tablet in hand.

JOAN: Hello everyone, my name is Joan. I will be conducting this inter-I mean "helpful discussion" today.
GINNY, JORGE, DENISE, PASCALE, KATE [mumbles]: Hello.
JOAN: You are all here today to...
PASCALE [loudly and out of tune]: "AND NOW SHE'S A LITTLE BOY IN SPAIN, PLAYING PIANOS FILLED WITH-"
JOAN: Excuse me, sir...
PASCALE: "BUT NOW WE MUST PACK UP EVERY PI-EEEEECE!"
KATE [ripping off PASCALE's headphones]: Dude. Woah.
JOAN: Now, may we begin please?
[JOAN pauses in motion and expects response. KATE looks at the cuticles of her nailbeds.]
JOAN: Okay, so you are all here to discuss your addiction to...[Opens tablet] American Apparel?
DENISE: Yes.
JOAN: Now, let's go around and state your name and your addiction. This is your first step in recovery.
[Everyone but JOAN groans.]
JORGE: I mean, gosh! That's so stereotypical. If we know why we're here, why can't we just go on with this? I mean, we're already uncomfortable as it is. You know what I mean?
[The word "mean" echoes.]
JOAN: Okay, so, then Jorge, why don't you go first. How did your addiction begin?
JORGE: So, you know, I first saw American Apparel when walking down the street, and I was like, "SO AWESOME!" So, I walked in, and me, being all different and stuff, decided to buy all their Composition T-Shirts. I, like, died, you know?
KATE: I have one of those shi-
JORGE: You know, so then, I kept going back for me, and I was like, addicted, you know? And [GINNY takes out a beat-up copy of Dazed and Confused and opens in the middle and begins reading.] I like orgasm every time I walk in there! IT'S SO-
JOAN: Do you mind?
GINNY: Excuse me?
JOAN: Do you mind putting your magazine away? It's part of the recovery process to listen to those with the same problems as you.
[GINNY stares at JOAN and then puts away her magazine.]
JOAN: As you were saying... [Waves hand to indicate name]
JORGE: The name's Jorge. Anyways, so, it's just SOOO AMAZING! [giggles]
JOAN: All right, Jorge. Now, Reader, what is your story?
GINNY: It's Ginny. I just went there because there's not many places in my town to shop.
JOAN: Is that it?
GINNY: Basically.
JOAN: So, why are you here?
GINNY: My American Eagle wearing friends sent me.
JOAN: Oh, okay. [yawns and attempts to keep my eyes open] So, let's get this over with, shall we? Now, do all of you feel you need to be cured of your addiction?
KATE: No.
JOAN: Why?
KATE [slurred lazy speech]: BecauseIfeellikeIammyselfatAmericanApparel. LikeIdon'tknowthefeeling. It'sasthoughI'malive, onheroin. Icannotbelieveit. And...Idon'tknow.
JOAN: Can you repeat, please?
KATE: BecauseIfeellikemeat-
PASCALE [slight lisp]: I don't want to be cured.
JOAN: Why don't you want to-
PASCALE: Pashcale. Because I like American Apparel. I like their Sh-lim Sh-lacks. Oh, did you all hear? The price of Sh-lim Sh-lacks went up to sh-venty four dollarsh!
GINNY: Noooo!
KATE: Why?
DENISE: That sucks.
JORGE: My life is like over.
GINNY: I was saving up for the red ones too.
KATE: Iown3ofthosesosuckit.
JOAN: CALM DOWN EVERYONE! Three deep breaths. One...two...three. Now, let's continue. Now, you [points to DENISE], why American Apparel?
DENISE: I like it.
JOAN: Well...
[As JOAN waits for a response, DENISE produces a blank stare.]
JOAN: Well, as the flyer states, you should not be wearing American Apparel now, has everyone followed this?
PASCALE: Mish, I would have to come naked if you didn't want me to wear American Apparel. It'sh all I have.
JOAN: What?
KATE: Ifyouwantmetostrip, that'sfine.
JOAN: Don't you guys have some real clothing?
[Everyone but Joan gasps.]
JORGE: YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT! I'm leaving.
[Puts on 30h!3 cap and exits, stage right]
PASCALE: ME TOO! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!! HAVE YOU SEEN THEIR ADSH?
KATE [under breath]: Perv.
[PASCALE glares, puts headphones on and exits stage right]
GINNY: You must at least repect the clothing we have. If you would excuse me...
[Takes PS1 bag and exits. KATE follows]
JOAN [sighs and turns to DENISE]: Well... [points towards exit]
[DENISE gets up and scurries off]

Joan gazes around the circle and puts her head in her hands.

Black out.

End scene.

(Oh, and a small PS: Kate is not supposed to directly depict Cory Kennedy. I know Cory Kennedy probably doesn't want to strip in front of a group of awkward strangers.)

So, this outfit...
a) is awesome
b) totally me. I would seriously walk out the door in this outfit.

Is it just me or is Cory Kennedy stepping up her game a little bit? Not so sloppy?

So, I'm horrible. No update for forever. I apologize. It was mainly fall play, which closed on Sunday with a fantastic show. Now, I'm catching up on my homework, sadly enough.

So, as I procrastinate, I'll just make something of my shopping list. Well, my DREAM shopping list.

I think of my style as half tomboy, half Brit (the McQueen clutch really puts that out there), and half of my own personality.

Okay, so, it isn't UBER CRAZY UNUSUAL in big neon letters, but it's me at least. I'm confident in what I wear and don't try to either look like a scene kid or Cory Kennedy (who I must admit is very cool, so no offense to her).

And also, you might think Wayfarers are "totally overused" or "out." If you really like them, wear them. By gosh, people! Don't follow trends! Be you.

(That was not intentionally made to sound like a school counselor.)

But, good news. Camera might be a happening thing...after Christmas. At Fall Play, I pretty much fell in love with two versions of the Canon Powershot. But, I like this one:

Hi, my name is Ginny, Gin for short, hence the name of the site. I'm sophomore in high school...total geek, fashion and theatre wise.

So, my first blog, citychicplease, had a funny name. Isn't this better? That's what I think. And I was slightly impersonal or whatever (my true apologies for that).

But, enough about bad memories. I've loved fashion since the summer after sixth grade (I used to be a HUGE tomboy). I thought it was such a cool world. A bit nostalgic looking back on it...

So, I'll eventually post pictures once I:
a) get a cellular device
b) get a camera.
(My mum does have an SLR, but I'm always so afraid I'll drop it or something).
