About Me

I am an individual stuck in a rut who loves to re-name her 21 cats in the cabin she lives in at the edge of that god-awful forest on the other side of China that no one can reach.

P.S. I love you.

P.S. I Love You...a great song (click here) and a horrendous movie.

But, yet, it's also my declaration of love to Proenza Schouler's Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for their AMAZING S/S 10 collection. Aren't I just that brilliantly, IQ 150-clever for that name?

But, WAIT! It has color? Tye-dyes? Multiple colors way out of the spectrum? And Gin, you like this? I mean, let's put this bluntly and in all caps: IT'S THE TOTAL OPPOSITE OF ME.

But, just look at how interesting this collection is. It's rebellious and cool at the same time. Plus, the sunglasses are out of this world. Don't we all need a break from Ray-Bans at some point?

The collection has a mix of tribal accessories (how L.V. S/S 09), a large cube of acid, and a whole lot of relaxation. I made fun of my Civics teacher for wearing his jacket around his waist intentionally on a field trip once (yes, I can be cruel with lack of sleep). But, here, it's just so...cool.

Even though the white dresses borderlined straight-jackets (I'm not scaring off the human race by posting them), I give a standing ovation for P.S. I have never been so wowed by their collection. Just amazing.

By the way, changing the playlist. I don't think you can listen to "Run Run Run" so many times without having to run away.

Psychobabble all upon your lips...

Tigerlily - La Roux
Dangerous Animals - Arctic Monkeys
What Have I Done - Anna Ternheim
Til There Was You - The Beatles
Qui Est Cette Fille - Yelle
Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again - Bob Dylan
Suedehead - Morrissey
I'm A Cuckoo - Belle and Sebastian
Mis-shapes - Pulp
Pisces Fish - George Harrison

Basically, I'm so busy! If I don't update for a while, don't worry--- I'm alive! Just not on the computer.

But, hopefully, you'll enjoy the playlist. I'm somehow going back into the vault to look for better music. Some of this stuff I listened to a VERY long time ago, but it's still good. If you're looking for fashion on here, I'm saving all the fashion stuff for Fashion Week. Be patient.

And thanks for the wonderful comments...and for tolerating my obvious talent on Microsoft Paint, of course.

Bothersome.

A lot of things have been bothering me, and most of it is semi-fashion related (YAY!). But, I hope I don't sound like I'm PMS-ing because gosh, wouldn't that be embarassing?

a) NO ARCTIC MONKEYS ALBUM IN BOOKSTORE! I like to buy the CDs in the bookstore, so I have it on hand. If I know I'll never find it, I'll buy it online. But, I was very upset on August 25th to find no "Humbug." Boo-hoo.

b) One of the things I hate about bloggers, fashion bloggers specifically, now-a-days is the desperation to be famous. And I've seen this a lot. They'll start dressing to what they think is "avant-garde" (note the quotation marks). I know a lot of bloggers have recieved from fame (case in point, Tavi and Jane), but nobody can be like them. If we all were famous, that'd be, well, dumb. I hope I don't sound as though I want an equal class society or something! It's just that you should be yourself and not cater to others in order to become famous.

c) Last year, this girl, who says like more than necessary, in my school found Paramore to be her ultimate love and decided to add bird's nests to the sides of her hair to look "scene." Figure A describes it.

Figure A: Where the Blackbird lived before she took her broken wings and learned to fly

Now, it seems as though she found Cory Kennedy and tries to be like her.

Figure B: The shirt is a men's medium, obviously, can't you seriously tell?

I don't mean to poke fun. But really, don't follow what other people do. Cory Kennedy is not a fashion pariah. Hayley Williams most certainly doesn't one either. Follow the beat of your own drum. Be a Ringo Starr. Or Phil Collins. Or something...

I really hope I don't sound like a bitch. I'm not. I have a lot on my mind, and why not write it on here?

I also hope you enjoy my obviously protegic paint skills.

And thanks for all the comments! Sorry it took a while to get another post in!

How could I leave this behind?

American Apparel Disco Pants

Spinal Tap - Big Bottom

I hate to say it, but whenever I see AA's Disco Pants, I think of Big Bottom from the movie, This Is Spinal Tap. I know everyone would die for these trousers if necessary, but you must admit-- the pants are exact replicas of Derek Small's pants there (far left with two-handle guitar). Take the reference however you want...I don't think it's either a compliment or a insult.

But, like Almost Famous, this is a great rock/music movie. It's just so funny and hillarious.

Anyways, thanks for the TEN comments. So happy!!

Also, I'm leaving to drop my sister off at college. I'm leaving Wednesday and not returning until either Saturday or Sunday. I don't know if i'll update in the meantime, but if not, this is goodbye for now!

Oh, and hope you enjoy the new playlist. I made it without realizing it's all 60s. If you hate the 60s, get out of here.

A little rhythm on the side, just for good measure...

La Javanaise - Serge Gainsbourg
A Shot of Rhythm and Blues - The Beatles
I'm Confused - Handsome Furs
Pretty Visitors - Arctic Monkeys
When They Fight, They Fight - The Generationals
Desolation Row - Bob Dylan
Shadows - Au Revoir Simone
This Time Tomorrow - The Kinks
Salieri's Deposit - Lightspeed Champion

Finally saw Almost Famous maybe a week or two ago, and it was amazing. Absolutely brilliant.

Also, thanks for all the comments! I pretty much got all of them within 2 days! Thanks so much!

The Cool Kids

Bob Dylan & George Harrison; Neal Cassady & Jack Kerouac; the Lisbon Sisters; Rick Owens; Iggy Pop; and Julian Casablancas

You know how some people ask, "If you could invite so-many people to dinner, who would it be?"

This would be my answer.

So, this is really steering away from "fashion blog" per say. But, I've lost total inspiration, for now. Stick around and there will be a...turn around, I guess.

I smelt your scent on the seatbelt.

My current loves...in a love square, to put it cornily.

I know this is a fashion blog, but I really am interested in a lot of things equally, such as music, art, literature, and movies. Oh, and the taste of candy, haha.

And as you can see, no Beatles/George Harrison. You guys should already know I love them/him already.

Oh, loved and appreciated the feedback from the last post! I really appreciate it.

What are your current loves and obsessions?

Looking Ahead

So, I'm kind of preparing myself for junior year, which obviously is a stressful year. I am reading a ton of history books for my IB course, and I'm already looking at colleges. But, really, for now, that doesn't matter. I'm not even in the school building itself yet. Maybe I should stress about my wardrobe for now. Here's some inspiration and some pieces I want.

Unlikely Icon

Morrissey of the Smiths in the 80s.

Believe me, entirely too cool.

Also, sorry for not updating. I actually have life off the computer...ouch. But, really, I do apologize.

Reeling from the side effects...

I'm a Loser- The Beatles
Crying Lightning- Arctic Monkeys
Wigwam- Bob Dylan
I'll Do Anything Once- The Strokes
All Those Years Ago- George Harrison
See Fernando- Jenny Lewis
A Quick One While He's Away- The Who
Musician, Please Take Heed- God Help the Girl
There She Goes Again- The Velvet Underground
Molly's Lips- The Vaselines

Sorry for not updating lately. I've been so busy lately! I went to Harry Potter at midnight. Awesome, and yes, totally worth it.

Oh, and if you were looking for new music, sorry; less than half of it was recorded after 2000. Give me some new music to listen to!

That was then, this is now...

A year ago, I posted this Polyvore on my old blog City Chic Please (don't you just hate the name) entitled "My Obsessions."

my obsessions

Cheap Monday jeans, Hermes Birkin bag, Rayban Wayfarers, Alexander McQueen clutch, Chanel red lipstick, Givenchy blakc eyeliner, Tom Binns bangle, *DEEP BREATH* random fedora, Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats, Burberry Prorsum dress, AA leisure dress, M by MJ guitar watch necklace, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, B.Pror. boots, random black tights

Well, talk about A LOT. Here's my obsessions now, one year later. And cut down about 20 items.

my obsessions 2

T by Alexander Wang tank dress, See by Chloe blazer, "Blonde on Blonde" album (have had this album for months, but still love it), George Harrison (LOVE HIM), YSL ring, YSL red-orange lipstick, grey nail polish, Stella McCartney mesh heels, Proenza Schouler PS1 bag

Enough said. I've lost all sense of color.

Glasto

Besides getting into a good college for art history and several other dreams, one of my goals (though not a priority) in life is to at least go to Glastonbury once. It's the only time I'd ever accept walking around in mud...with a fantastic pair of Hunter boots on, of course (and trying to look nearly as cool as Lily Donaldson). And Paul McCartney better still be playing when I get there.

And guess who this is below at Glasto 2007? Yes, that is the extremely adorable (*sigh*) Alex Turner. Can't you obviously tell? Hahaha...

And speaking of which, the new A.M. album is coming out August 15th in the US. Too excited!

1901

I've been watching It's On with Alexa Chung so much lately. Maybe it's because I have nothing to do, haha. I hate MTV normally, but at least it's a somewhat decent replacement for TRL. But, the Phoenix performance today? I died. Thomas Mars is so adorable. And considering every other musical guest, well, sucked, Phoenix was so refreshing and amazing.

Have you guys seen It's On? What do think of the show?

And thanks for all the kind comments below. Really appreciate it!

Freedom

I love this look. I would wear the sweater over a black tank dress with Rodarte studded boots. What a divine outfit...

I'm done with finals, did my SAT World History this morning, and only have 6 more days until the last day of school. It's basically a pointless 4 days of school then a move-up day.

But, basically, I'm free!!

Oh, how do you like the new layout? I might change the posts back to 3 a page again. And if you don't know those two guys in the picture, that's Bob Dylan and George Harrison. They're basically my two favorite musical people ever. You should definitely check out their duets from Concert for Bangladesh.

PS: Brit, darling, I can't comment your posts! I have no idea, but there's no comment box! I thought I would like to tell you that. <3

Little J actually sings.

I actually really like Taylor Momsen. Being her age, there's not anyone like her that I know. Just mainstream drones who love that stupid new 3OH!3 song (please take it off the radio).

But, she sings! I guess the new demo is okay. It's definitely not horrible. No stupid 3OH!3. Thank the Lord...let's just hope Leighton's as good as her.

Gossip Girl finale coming up! Excited...

But, here listen to it and see what you think:

And did you hear about this lawsuit over Kendra Spears (the model)? Ford is quite protective of their "rising star," aren't they? Click here to read.

Oh, and if I suddenly go "missing" for a couple weeks, I can be found under a World History textbook, studying for the SAT World History.

A Monthly Review- April 2009

It's already the end of April. What??

But, quick Monthly Review. A TON of homework!

FAVORITE SONG:

Lisztomania- Phoenix
Duh. Enough said. This is the new official video. I love!

MOST NEEDED ITEM:Pair of Black Pants
Black pants, how I need you so. I'm such a monochromatic freak (Grey and I are, lyk, omg, BESTIES!), and I've been begging for a chic, well-fitting pair that doesn't look like I'm about to perform in an orchestra.

LIFE MAKER OF THE MONTH:
About 40 Thai exchange students arrived at my school 2 weeks ago, and I always become involved in the program. This year, there is one girl who I met who is extremely stylish. She even has a Miu Miu purse! My jealousy (well, actually, I only like Miu Miu bags, but that's for another post)! Anyways, here's the one thing she said that totally made me die...in a Rachel Zoe way:

Friend: "So, do you know who Alexander Wang is?"

Shocked, I immediately reply how much I love him. Yes, I have finally met someone in the flesh who loves Alexander Wang! This is how sad my town/life is.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Believe me, after this hard week, I'm craving for it...

A Monthly Review- March 2009

Gosh, I'm a horrendous blogger. It's April 5th, and I'm doing a Monthly Review for last month. And commenting back...don't start there.

Anyways, I just came back from a trip to Upstate NY to visit family. It was an okay trip besides the horrible weather.

Okay, enough rambling Gin. Here's my post:

FAVORITE SONG:
Tell the World- Vivian Girls
I have a sudden addiction to the Vivian Girls. They're not even that good, no offense. But, this song has been stuck in my head for at least 2 weeks. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

MOST NEEDED ITEM:
In my first Monthly Review, I post some studded sandals. These kick thoses' (gramatical error? Who knows) asses. LOOK AT THESE. Pure awesomeness crafted into a shoe. I'm in love.

LIFE MAKER OF THE MONTH:
OPI on Collins Ave. Nail Color
So, I got a manicure for the first time for my birthday with 3 of my closest friends. I had trouble deciding upon a color, and I picked this really bright one hesitantly. It is great! I love it so much. Of course, it's chipped by this point, but it really stands out against my grey wardrobe. I really recommend it.

I'm feeling like a criminal...

I actually got no gifts today except for some fudge from my friend. My mum said she wants me to go with her tomorrow to get my gift...wonder what it is.

But, whatever. I'm now sixteen. I'm happy. I'm listening to Downtown Train. Yet again, I'm happy.

Otherwise, I have no great big birthday post. Sorry kids.

I'll post something better this weekend. Like what I got. And other stuff...pinky promise.
EDIT (3/22/09):
Okay, here's what I got:
- A cell phone (!!! it's been 3 years! But, it isn't here yet. I'll see what happens)
- Diana F+ Camera (Yes, 2-3 years as well...I got the 35 mm back because I have no darkroom which would make it impossible to develop 120 film)
- Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde

Music[al]

I'm in the school musical. Yeah, right, I really don't have time on my hands. But, we opened tonight, and it was supposedly really good! But, whatever...my feet kill!

So, I've had this weird music revolution. It's so weird, but I thought I'd share 5 songs with you or whatever. I'm too tired to talk about Paris Fashion Week.

I Want You - Bob Dylan

Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order

The Shadow Waltz - (Guess which musical...I will love you forever if you do)

Gimme Danger - Iggy Pop and the Stooges

Back in the USSR - The Beatles (or just anything off The White Album for that matter)

I realize all of these songs were released before 1985, but what the heck: I'm in the wrong generation.

And since I'm so...old with my music, give me some suggestions. Hope to be back after musical and when I get my chem grade back up to a B!
